A

Aaron Paul Gillespie, a devoted servant to his country, community, and faith, passed away on May 23, 2024, at the University of Nebraska Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska, due to complications from a heart attack. He was 59 years old. Aaron’s life was a testament to dedication, service, and unwavering kindness. patriotism. He trained and was stationed at bases across the country and at RAF Upper Heyford in England. Aaron flew with Strategic Air Command’s Looking Glass and served as an Airborne Evaluator for AFOTEC at Offutt Air Force Base in Omaha.
Early Life and Military Service
Born on July 11, 1964, in Austin, Texas, Aaron was raised in Woodsboro, Texas, where his spirit of compassion and commitment shone brightly from an early age. After graduating from Woodsboro High School and attending Blinn Junior College, he embarked on a remarkable 14-year journey in the Air Force in 1984. During his military career, Aaron selflessly served his nation with honor and valor. Upon leaving the Air Force, Aaron joined his wife, NeEtta, in their web design business, New Conclusions. They worked with several major companies in Omaha until the business was sold to Affinitas Direct Marketing Company.  Additionally, they owned Omaha Coffee Company and sold coffee at the Farmer’s Market in the Old Market for several years. Aaron was a technical project manager for Werner Trucking Company and CF Webtools, eventually working as a project manager in the IT department of Methodist Hospital.

Aaron is survived by his wife, NeEtta; children Madison Griffith (Emery) and Austin Gillespie; his sister Julie Gillespie and brother John Gillespie (Lisa Sevier); sister-in-laws Susan Utter, Fonda Teske (Ed), Gay Daubert, Lisa Sevier and Deb Trullinger; brother-in-laws Dwight Utter (Deb) and Ed Teske; nieces Tera Blotsky, Joyce Daubert, and great-niece Leila Daubert; nephews George Daubert, Travis Blotsky, Brock Paris, and Bryce Ellison; and great-nephews Lucas and Logan Dodd. Aaron was preceded in death by his parents, Joleene and Kenneth Gillespie, and his in-laws, Lois and Vernon Utter.  A celebration of Aaron’s life was on June 22, 2024, at 2 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church at 34th & Farnam in Omaha, NE.

Chad was born on October 10, 1973, in Norfolk, Nebraska to Dr. Joel Gillespie and Dionne (Winkleman) Gillespie. After graduating from Norfolk Public High School Chad received a welding certificate from Northeast Community College. He loved the outdoors, working hard, pleasing friends and family and helping others. His love of all things that could fly started as a member of the Civil Air Patrol. Chad was well versed, especially in military airplanes and loved to share his knowledge. For several years he had a key role in running The Pines, our family resort, for many years. He was well known for his welcoming demeanor and his talent at making ‘flies’ for the trout (fly) fishing on Pine Creek. He was in Knights of Columbus serving in Bassett while in Long Pine. Chad was often recruited to help at community services such as the Lions Club Pancake Feed by his family and always looked forward to all the family events. For the last several years Chad helped take care of the family farm. Because he was number seven, out of eight brothers and sisters, he believed in his survival skills.

Chad is survived by his seven siblings, Kim (Mike) Karweik of Hopkins MI, Marc Gillespie of New London WI, Diette Glenn and Rod Palmer of Ainsworth, Jeff Gillespie of Norfolk, Kathy (Van) Neidig of Battle Creek, Michaela (Glen) Chelberg of Minneapolis MN, and Amy Gillespie of Minneapolis MN; 16 nieces and nephews; and 15 great-nieces and nephews. Chad was preceded in death by his parents, Joel and Dionne Gillespie; and grandparents, Richard and Cecelia Winkleman and J.T and Anne Gillespie.

India Ann Cain Gillespie,  (Aug 30, 1849 Missouri-March 9, 1908 Omaha, Nebraska) Burial Kearney Cemetery, Buffalo Co, Nebraska The death of Mrs. India Gillespie occurred Sunday afternoon at a hospital in Omaha where she had been subjected to a surgical operation. Mrs. Gillespie had been in very poor health for a number of years, and at two or three times previously had been operated upon for various causes. Mrs. Gillespie was the daughter of Reuel Cain and Sarah Power Cain. She was the widow of Henry Gillespie (1847-1985), who died several years ago near Hastings. She was the mother of two sons and three daughters, Mrs. Frank Huston and Miss Moss Gillespie being with her when she passed away. The body was brought home for burial, which took place Wednesday. Mrs. Gillespie was a most excellent woman and a patient sufferer for many years. The funeral was held from the Congregational church Wednesday afternoon, Rev. Abbott officiating. Throughout her life, Jodie found joy in helping others. While living in David City, she was active in the Jaycees and enjoyed giving her time to community activities. Her career reflected that same spirit of service. She worked in the medical field as a billing specialist and in education as a special education teacher’s aide and children’s librarian.  Prior to her retirement, she worked as a medical billing specialist for Heartland Women’s Healthcare in Papillion.

Jodie loved gardening, thrifting, traveling, and cheering on Nebraska women’s volleyball. Above all, she treasured time spent with family. She was a devoted mother and grandmother, a supportive sister, a fun-loving aunt, a generous friend, and an animal lover. An outgoing mischief-maker with a warm heart, she brought joy to all who knew her. While cancer ultimately ended her life, it never took her humor, her dignity, or her fierce love for the people around her. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Jodie was preceded in death by her husband, Jeffrey Gillespie; her parents, Howell and Ellen Reeve; her sister, Mary Beth Chism; and her infant brother, Daniel Reeve. She is survived by her children, Elizabeth Fiala, Scott Fiala, Christopher Gillespie, Jessica (James) Hernandez, and Sara (Miguel) Sira; her brother, Robert (Kathlyn) Reeve; her sister, Beverly Reeve; and her cherished grandsons, Roy and James Sira.A celebration of Jodie’s life will be announced at a later date. Her ashes will be interred alongside her husband, Jeff, at Florida National Cemetery.

Timothy Brandon Gillespie born January 22, 1988, left us on Friday, August 30, 2024. Timothy was preceded in death by his older brother, Brandon; grandparents, Shirley Gillespie and Dean and Neomi Hascall. Survived by his parents, Tim and Theresa Gillespie; sister, Jennifer (Chris Kraus); brother, Brian; grandfather, Howard Gillespie; nieces, Maiah Sanderson and Liyah Gillespie-Kraus; and nephews, Brandon Sanderson and John Gillespie-Kraus; as well as many loving aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved dog, Juno.

Timothy was born in Omaha, NE, and enjoyed an early childhood in Bloomington, IL and Kansas City North, MO, before moving back to Omaha in 1996. He graduated from Westside High School and Mount Marty University, South Dakota, and attended the University of Nebraska. He spent many years working with his parents at Off The Wall Indoor Soccer, and was a member of the Iron Workers’ Local Union 21 in Omaha. Timothy was a powerful athlete (soccer, weight-lifting and running), an avid dog lover, and was enamored with welding and working with steel. Timothy loved the outdoors, but most notably Timothy was a musician who spent hours daily playing his guitars, and writing and singing songs with his sister Jennifer. Rough-and-tumble on the outside, with many scars to prove it, he had a heart of gold with a desire to help those needing a helping hand, and a deep love for his family.

Visitation was held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024 from 5 to 7 p.m., at Bethany Funeral Home with a Vigil service that followed at 7 p.m., Mass of Christian burial was held on Thursday, September 12, 2024 at 10 a.m., at St. Gerald Catholic Church, 9602 Q St., Ralston, NE 68127.
